oops, NEW DE
Tanking aside, I'd still call up Phoenix and offer a Hickson + Meyers for Gortat trade.

How did Garnett only play 6 minutes?
@skywaker9 (David) His choice.
@AK1984 Probably only played because sitting out the ASG requires you miss either the game right before or right after and he didn't want to do that.
So next 2 ASGs are NO and Brooklyn/NYK, makes sense.
@skywaker9 (David) Stern said he liked Portland's/Blazers' interest in hosting one. Apparently the way around the limited lux hotel capacity would be to dock cruise ships in the harbor.
@skywaker9 (David) (Which even London did for the Olympics, a city with tons of hotel capacity.)
Reading the BE All-Star Game thread some more, it seems like Timmay has an intense hatred for the NBA that grows more and more as each week goes by.
Why is a guy who apparently has so much hate for the league a mod at a website that's dedicated to a team that plays in it? Doesn't make any sense, unless he's sadomasochistic in his TV viewing habits.
@AK1984 I dunno. My guess is it is the byproduct of being a fan of a losing team.
@noBjustRyan His hate is beyond that, though. He tends to rip the product itself, which is a sign that he's disenchanted with the NBA altogether He's such a passive-aggressive pussy, though, that he only hints at his anger and never unleashes it in full.
@noBjustRyan He wasn't bad at first when he became a mod, so the change didn't happen overnight. It seemed to kick in when Dave went scorched earth policy on the JD in December of 2010, then has gotten progressively worse over the past couple of years. He'd probably have been better served to have taken a step back at some point, which is what Cabby apparently did. Had he done that, then maybe he wouldn't come across so on edge all of the time nowadays.
@AK1984 haha. You are probably right on all accounts. This mod/author thing has also made him act differently.
@noBjustRyan Oh, and when called out on it by numerous people, he pulled his usual passive-aggressive bitch boy routine by flippantly dismissing the spot-on criticism levied by others on his bullshit stance.
@noBjustRyan Y'know, it all seems to have started when he made that borderline racist comment about David Stern selecting Kevin Love as a replacement to the 2011 All-Star Game.
I only got to watch a bit of the ASG. LA wasn't on the floor much with CP3 right? Mostly westbrook and harden, so no way was LA getting the ball. That was probably the problem. Plus LA is a pick and popper.
@noBjustRyan Yeah its not his style, kind of what happened to Bosh too (although Bosh also got repeatedly embarrassed to boot).
@skywaker9 (David) @noBjustRyan Yeah, LMA at least didn't get made to look a fool like Bosh.
@noBjustRyan Who was it during LMA's first run who fed him in the post only to have the ball kicked right back out? I almost want to say it was Kevin Durant, so not Harden or Westbrook.
But yeah, posting up doesn't fly in the All-Star Game. An interior must either be a strong finisher like Blake Griffin or a hustle player like Joakim Noah.
@AK1984 @noBjustRyan Think it was Harden or KD, I don't remember.
@brandonmitchell @noBjustRyan Yeah, with my thought being immediately that posting up won't work in this setting. Gotta take guys off the dribble or fly to the hoop, with there being no in-between. Heck, fellow pick-and-pop artist Chris Bosh had a bad game himself.
@noBjustRyan Yeah, LMA isn't much of a finisher as a roll man. He's either shooting jumpers or posting up, with posting up not happening in the All-Star Game environment. Guys like LMA and BroLo aren't built for this set-up, although it's weird to me that some Portland fans seem surprised by that. Frankly, Paul Millsap would've been a more exciting All-Star selection than LMA.
@AK1984 i "think" if he would have been there with cp3, then maybe a lob or two might have happened, but it would have only marginally made a difference in something that isn't really a problem to begin with. LA is not really ASG material. He needs to feel slighted every ASG for 5 years before he gets angry enough to play aggressively.
@AK1984 yeah, that is kinda what i figured.
@noBjustRyan I don't know if CP3 would've made much of a difference, since it wasn't like he fed Dwight Howard early in the game. Looking at the play-by-play, CP3 was hitting Griffin when he rolled hard or dished out to shooters after driving partway to the hoop. Howard was only assisted twice by Paul, who had 15 on the game.
http://www.nba.com/games/20130217/ESTWST/gameinfo.html
@noBjustRyan He was only the floor with Westbrook and that's pretty much exactly what happened. If he was on the floor with cp3 he def would've got the ball more
Ha-ha, this is funny.

@AK1984 who gives a fuck about the god damned grammys? - Chuck D
@noBjustRyan@AK1984
You think I give a damn about a Grammy?
Half of you critics can't even stomach me, let alone stand me.
"But Slim what if u win wouldn't it be weird?"
Why? So you guys can just lie to get me here?
So you can sit me here next to Britney Spears.
Shit, Christina Aguilera better switch me chairs
So I can sit next to Carson Daly and Fred Durst
And hear 'em argue over who she gave head to first.
- The Real Slim Shady
@AK1984 You would think the drummer from the black keys would have more sense than to take the grammys as seriously as he does in that statement. This is the same grammys that nominated Chris Brown this year and completely ignored Kendrick Lamarr.
@HarrisDave @AK1984 the grammys are very out of touch but to be fair Kendrick Lamar's record was actually released too late for consideration for the 2012 version, he will probably be nominated next year.
Mindy McCready committed suicide, which sadly is of no real surprise. She definitely had her issues, with her reportedly having sex with Roger Clemens -- when she was just 15 to boot -- coming to mind first and foremost. At 37, that's 63 points in a death pool.
Also, this is just further proof to me that Celebrity Rehab probably does more harm than good for some of those quasi-celebs. There's been a ton of deaths from people who appeared on their in recent years.
From BE -
"what?? I realize this an IMO list. Kyrie??? Lillard is on the same level and he is a rookie. LMA ’s stats are better than any pf or center on that list."
@TiMB yeah, I knew I could come in here and talk poop about everyone in that comment section. Yikes. I barely get to watch much basketball this year, and I ain't as clueless as those homers.
@noBjustRyan @TiMB This place has truly become cliquish.
@noBjustRyan @TiMB The Blake Griffin hate is the most infuriating. I can see how some people in Portland haven't gotten to see enough of Kyrie Irving yet due to him playing in Cleveland, although the Lillard to Irving comparisons are getting close to the Jerryd Bayless to Derrick Rose range of lunacy from a few years ago. Though, Lillard is at least competent compared to the awfulness that could be Jay-Bay at times.
Back to Griffin, the Clippers are on national TV enough and his game has clearly evolved -- even if you're just going by the eye test -- that any bitching about him is strictly due to an anti-Clippers/anti-L.A. bias or pure ignorance. Either way, it's idiotic and inexcusable.
@AK1984 @noBjustRyan I don't think they're a tier above on quality of play but their youth gives them a major advantage. LA and Nic for one of them, I wouldn't do at all.
@noBjustRyan @TiMB K-Love would probably leave for Los Angeles, so I pass on him for that reason. But yeah, I'd easily trade LMA + Nicolas Batum for Blake Griffin or James Harden. Neither one could or would happen, but Griffin and Harden are on a tier above LMA.
@AK1984 @TiMB Id trade LA and batum and a grip of whatever else to get griffin, love and harden. Yeah, I know that will never happen.
@noBjustRyan @TiMB Well, at least the K-Love hate has some basis to it. He did burn some bridges by going to UCLA, while he is by all accounts sort of a douche. Griffin, however, is reportedly a nice guy, so the only thing I guess someone could argue about is the occasionally flopping and ref baiting. Of course, a former Blazer, B-Roy, was similar in his ref baiting at times. It's why I also don't get the Harden hate, since Roy went about drawing fouls in a similar fashion.
@AK1984 @TiMB It is similar to the irrational kevin love hate around portland.
@noBjustRyan @TiMB Yeah, it's not like small markets are prevented from being successful. San Antonio has long been proof positive of that.
@AK1984 @TiMB it isn't even small market. Just tragically mediocre for too long market.
@AK1984 @TiMB it is the same ol' "oh poor us in the small little market. no one takes us seriously, wahhhhh" mentality that skews people's perception.
@TiMB http://bit.ly/130nMKP
Kyrie: Better shooting overall, better 3pt shooting, better TS%, better rebounding, more steals, slightly lower TO% on higher usage, much higher PER.
Damian: No statistical advantages.
A few things tied up or close to it.
@Dan_tm @TiMB Lillard is the slightly better passer so far.
@Norsktroll @TiMB If we're talking about this season, the numbers don't back that up. Kyrie has a slightly higher asst% with a slightly lower to%.
@Dan_tm @TiMB Damian had the best start since Oscar Robinson
@ian21 @Dan_tm @TiMB by = but
@ian21 @Dan_tm @TiMB I keep wanting to get excited by I am gun shy.
@ian21@TiMB
Damn, I keep forgetting that.
Damian: More Oscar Robertsons.
@Dan_tm @TiMB Minutes played and age are statistics, arent they?
@noBjustRyan @Dan_tm @TiMB preach
@dj idoltime @Dan_tm @TiMB Age is not a statistic. Age ain't nuthin but a number.
@TiMB I REALLY like Damian Lillard, but far too many people think he's as good as Kyrie and that's some for real insanity.
@BrianGB @TiMB Yeah i think Kyrie kind of proved whom is better 1 on 1 this season.
@AK1984 @skywaker9 (David) @BrianGB Kudos for Knight coming back at him but Kyrie was out to make a name for himself this weekend, as he said, and he sure did.
@skywaker9 (David) @BrianGB @TiMB Yeah, Irving lit it up in the Rising Stars contest and just torched Brandon Knight in an epic display of one-on-one dominance.
@BrianGB Lillard is great and you can see where he'll get better as he adjusts but comparing him to a future superstar is so blatantly homeristic it burns.
Steph is a reasonable comparison....dunno how people latched onto Kyrie.
@TiMB If he is or isn't isn't the point, Blake is the bigger star because of where and how he plays.
@skywaker9 (David) @TiMB Yeah, regardless of where they played, Blake Griffin would be a bigger star than LMA. Unlike LMA, Griffin's game lends itself well to highlight plays. Griffin's personable nature shines astronomically more than that of the stoic LMA, who's a remarkably bland, boring guy overall. If you're going to be that reserved, then you need to be a legendary all-time great like Tim Duncan. Even then, you'll be outshined at times.
@TiMB @skywaker9 (David) Maybe not boring, but certainly doesn't attract the spotlight. He's probably an affable guy to talk with in person, but his personality doesn't translate well to ads and stuff like it does with Griffin or Love.
@AK1984 @skywaker9 (David) Yep. I like LA and wouldn't quite go with boring for him (his interview with Lowe was one of the better ones I saw this AS weekend) but he is definitely reserved. Griffin likes the bright lights, so it's probably best he plays in LA while Aldridge plugs away in Portland.
@TiMB Some of the comments about how Blake Griffin isn't better than LMA on PWE facebook are hilarious.
@skywaker9 (David) I mean, it's still close if you ignore LAs slow start adjusting to Stotts' system but.....the dismissal of Blake as one-dimensional is absurd at this point.
