1.10 – HELP me choose a winner for PWE contest
Sorry to stop Idol’s record breaking DE but this is important.
Ok so I posted a PWE contest earlier today (free tickets to the heat game). Essentially the requirements were to share the Road Warriors video and then respond to our post on why they should win.
I just came back and there are over 40 submissions and I need help to determine the best answer… the contest ends at around 2:30-3:00pm PST.
Please for the love of god help me with this.

I'm running amok on Plenty of Fish in a buzzed state.
This won't end well.
Heck, it hasn't ended well in the past. I sure as fuck know that.
@AK1984 I had never heard of that place before. I don't often run amok in a buzzed state anymore, but when I do it never ends well.
So, with all of this talk about Baseball Hall of Fame snubs, who do you guys think should get in the Basketball Hall of Fame among the nominees?
http://www.hoophall.com/news/2013/1/7/the-official-class-of-2013-ballot-nominees-from-the-naismith.html#BHOFBallot
Among the players, I'd go with Gary Payton.
Among the players, I'd go with Bernard King.
Among the coaches, I'd go with Jack Curran: http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/high-school/molloy-curran-set-55th-season-article-1.1204584
Among the International Committee, I'd go with Vlade Divac.
Among the ABA Committee, I'd go with George McGinnis.
Among the Contributors Committee, I'd go with Jim Valvano.
Among the Veterans Committee, I'd go with Holcombe Rucker.
Among the Early African-American Pioneers Committee, I'd go with Nat "Sweetwater" Clifton
Among the Women's Committee, I'd go with Dawn Staley.
@AK1984 Players Bernhard King and Gary Payton, maybe Mitch Richmond.
I'd say international player is between Divac and Sarunas Marciulionis. Edge to Divac, but Marciulionis should eventually get in.
Among the "contributors" are a number of guys who should get in eventually (Glickmann, Reinsdorf, Valvano, Walsh, Harris, ...)
@Norsktroll @AK1984 With the contributors, I think Jimmy V. deserves a spot for an obvious non-basketball reason. Posthumously, he's earned it.

i might have to cut joakim noah in cap FBB, I had him all year last year too... that makes me pretty sad he is fun to root for.
Talking about football, I had a debate with a friend and my brother over which QB you'd take for next season and next season alone: Cutler, Romo, or Rivers?
That, of course, assumes all things are equal coaching, o-line, and skill position wise.
I went with Cutler.
@AK1984 Austin Rivers is awful.
@Dan_tm @AK1984 maybe he is just in the wrong sport.
@Dan_tm @christopher_m I'd say more like a baseball outfielder. Think Torii Hunter or someone like that.
@christopher_m @AK1984 His body looks like it was built for curling.
@AK1984 Romo
@MattBRC That's what my brother said.
The friend said neither and that he'd rather trust a game manager like Flacco.
@AK1984 it is hard to say, cutler seems the least "damaged" but also has proven the least, also the youngest... hmmm. might actually go with Romo, he had a pretty shitty offensive line, is not that old, and has some really good seasons in the not too distant past.,
i guess lillard can have an awesome night in a loss and it is ok, i thought that would make him a me-first chucker like kobe especially considering the two are similar on defense :P
Are there any good movies coming out in the next couple of months?
Movie 43 looks alright enough and I'll probably go see it when it comes out with a buddy of mine who brought it up the other day, but I can't for the life of me think of anything myself that looks worthwhile in the near future.
Guess it's that time of year for movies, though.
@AK1984 For a family-esque flick, I thought Oz the Great and Terrible looked aight.
@dj idoltime @AK1984 That's the one with Franco, right?
I'll pass.
I can wait until "This Is the End" to get my Franco fix.
@AK1984 Yeah, I think I might pass too. It does seem like it has good 3D possibilities, but that's a pretty small amount of value for a movie.
@AK1984 i hardly watch new movies, haha, it is like my cats are children and tying me down.
@christopher_m To me, my cat is the closest thing to a child I'd want in my life.
Cats are great.
Unlike children and dogs, they're potty trained immediately -- which my cat using the litter box as we speak -- and fairly self-reliant.
@christopher_m @AK1984 It's a little terrifying that you don't leave the house because of your cats.
@Dan_tm @AK1984 yes, yes it is.
Only 2 teams haven’t won in 2013: Dwight Howard’s old team and his new team
sure quiet around here postgame tonight.
@MattBRC friday night. and not a real talking points game...
@christopher_m I guess.
This is the dumbest thing I've read in ages.
"Who [Russell Wilson or Damian Lillard] is the keeper for his team for Uncle Paul? If one had to go which one would be the keeper for him....I wonder? For that matter, which team may he favor Blazers or Seahawks? The Seahawks have got him to the Super Bowl while the Blazers have floundered in first round only territory when they have made the playoffs most years. Now both teams figure to be on the way up with dynamic leaders at the PG and QB positions. who ya like?" (breakerfall)
I'll answer this in two parts, even though it should be common sense.
1. No duh, Paul Allen clearly favors the Trail Blazers. It's his precious, much-beloved toy. Us Seahawk fans know that, too, but whatever. Hell, I'm sure Bulls fans don't mind how Jerry Reinsdorf favors the White Sox -- even though the Bulls have brought him a lot more success -- and I expect Hornets fans are probably cool that Tom Benson favors the Saints.
2. Both on the field/court and off it, Russell Wilson's value to the Seahawks is astronomically larger than Lillard's value to the Trail Blazers.
This is no contest, either.
Shit, it'd be like comparing Tom Brady to Steve Nash back in 2004-2005. Nash was nice and all, did well enough for the Suns, and made Robert Sarver some coin; he even got Phoenix to the Western Conference Finals. Brady, however, was Tom "Motherfuckin'" Brady; he printed money for Robert Kraft and was bringing the hardware home to Foxboro.
@AK1984 oh breaker is Matt from PWE I think.
@christopher_m pretty sure PWE Matt is greatestfall
@Dan_tm @jakesnake99 @christopher_m Did he get hit by a car after winning a $10,000 lotto ticket?
http://youtu.be/6F7Z2qOygak
@Dan_tm i just shed a single tear.
@AK1984 @jakesnake99 @christopher_m Maybe manfredi got hit by a car.
@jakesnake99 @christopher_m Having just looked up their SB Nation profiles, it appears that manfredi is inactive on hiatus -- which hopefully means he finally got the banhammer -- but timg56 is an active participant at the O's website.
@jakesnake99 @christopher_m But still, it wasn't the worst thing I've seen in ages. That belongs to either timg56 or manfredi.
Between them, manfredi was dumber and timg56 seemed like a more frightening person in real life.
@jakesnake99 @christopher_m You know what, you're right.
I will say the writing styles were way different, so that's why I laid into breakfall without thinking of Matt.
@jakesnake99 people shouldn't have such similar handles.
@christopher_m Crap, that's right.
Ouch, now I feel bad. I shouldn't've been such a dick in my reply.
@christopher_m Still, the "dumbest thing in ages" was jerkish hyperbole by me and I feel like an asshole for writing something so dickish.
Maybe I was just being defensive of Russell Wilson. Well, it's either that or I was simply being defensive of the Seahawks -- as admittedly Wilson surprised me this season -- and my homeristic instincts kicked into overdrive. Yes, even I can be subject to bouts of homerism.
I will also concede it's quite possible Paul Allen -- if a gun was put to his head and he had to choose -- would pick Damian Lillard over Russell Wilson, since the Blazers take priority over the Seahawks in his life.
I both cannot and will not deny that Allen's first love is, was, and always will be the Trail Blazers, so Lillard may win out over Wilson in this hypothetical scenario.
Now, the one on-court/on-field argument I could accept for Allen keeping Lillard over Wilson is that Wilson's backup, Matt Flynn, is superior to Ronnie Price, Nolan Smith, or any likely free agent signing next summer. That's stretching it, but I can see such a factor as a pro-Lillard point.
@AK1984 i think he can handle it, also ak will be ak. if getting banned from blogs like a trillion times doesn't stop it...
@christopher_m If I were to have made a New Year's resolution -- which I didn't, but let's say if I had -- it'd've been to be a nicer person this year.
Unfortunately, I'm incapable of it. That's why I don't make resolutions, since I lack the capacity to follow through with them.
@AK1984 I think you are underrating Nash. He is probably one of the top 5 offensive players in history.
@christopher_m Right, but that's my point.
As great as Nash was, he couldn't have the impact of a legendary QB like Brady. Damian Lillard and Russell Wilson are like a small-scale version of that, as they're obviously nowhere near Nash or Brady.
Could stretch it to the '90s and compare Gary Payton to Steve Young. If I had the choice to pick one of them in a vacuum, it'd be Young.
@christopher_m Ken Anderson deserves a Bert Blyleven esque push into the HOF.

Manning was the best
@christopher_m Or Dan Fouts, who's arguably better than John Elway by statistical measures. Fouts, however, played on some awful defensive teams in San Diego, so that screwed over his career somewhat.
@christopher_m Looking at the numbers, the one guy who's considered an all-time great despite underwhelming stats for a two-time Super Bowl Champion and multi-time AFC Champion is John Elway.
Even so, I'd be hard pressed to take someone like, oh, Warren Moon over Elway. It's like how I wouldn't take RGIII over Andrew Luck.
@AK1984 I think the adjusted stats pretty much all said Manning, unless you could count graham. PFR had an interesting series awhile back.
@christopher_m Yes, I'd 100% take LBJ over Brady and Michael Jordan over any football player in NFL history.
Hmm, I don't know who I'd call the best QB ever. Best football player relative to his position is Jerry Rice. Wideouts, however, rely too much on QB play -- as we can look no further than Larry Fitzgerald to see that -- and Rice had both Joe Montana and Steve Young throwing to him.
Back to QB, that's a tough one.
I don't like the counting stats criteria in football like I do in baseball, because Brett Favre sure as hell isn't the best ever. I also don't like the winning aspect in football as much as I do in basketball, since Joe Montana could've gone w/o winning a Super Bowl if in the same situation as Dan Marino. Lastly, the game has changed so much that an old-timer like Otto Graham -- who was to football as George Mikan was to basketball -- is a no-go for me.
So yeah, I'm torn.
@AK1984 but if an NBAer is equal in impact to the NFLer he is better, e.g. LeBron > Brady, Jordan > Manning (yes Manning is the best ever)
@christopher_m Yep, no doubt about it!
@AK1984 haha yeah quarterbacks are very, very important.
