WE 5/16/2012
I would say that last WE was starting to smell like rotten fish sticks but I won’t say that for several reasons. The first being I store my fish sticks in the freezer, it is much more convenient to just take out a few for the meal at hand and cook them in the toaster oven then it is to keep them in the fridge and have to worry about them rotting before you can eat them so really all I know is what a freezer burned fish stick tastes like and it isn’t that bad. Secondly I feel that comparing that last WE to rotten food isn’t fair I think a better comparison is stale bread. And really stale bread is not that bad because you can make bread crumbs, croutons, or toast with it and nobody really knows that you used stale bread. So while stale bread can still be good it is not as versatile as fresh bread which can be eaten plain. I am not sure what the point of this rambling post is.

Haslem out for game 6, Pittman gets three games, Hansborugh's foul retroactively upgraded to a flagrant 2 but no suspension
I'm fine with the Haslem and Hansbrough penalties, but I think 5-10 would have been appropriate for Pittman
@blazeraddict who are you talking to?
Germany is going young for the Euro Championships qualifier (missed qualifying for the Olympics, duh). No Dirk, 4 NCAA players (2 Gonzaga, 1 Boston, 1 UConn), 6 guys who are 20, nobody older than 30. Rebuilding a la Spain.
OKC prospect Tibor Pleiß injured his knee in the playoffs
"The injury incident happened early in the fourth quarter as Pleiß went up for a rebound with Artland big man Anthony King [hehe] and teammate PJ Tucker and the 22-year-old landed awkwardly and twisted his right knee. Pleiß had to be helped off the court.
“We are positive. But we won’t know until after the MRI,” said Fleming at the post-game press conference about the Pleiß injury.
Pleiß, who is expected to be heading to the U.S. next season to play for the Oklahoma City Thunder, has had an excellent season and been a strong force in the playoffs, averaging 10.3 points and 9.0 rebounds in Bamberg’s first round playoff series against Bonn."
@Norsktroll Anthony King went to Miami, right? I remember there being a college player with my name recently, so it's probably the same guy.
One more.

Ha-ha, Ziller showed up at BE to defend himself.
@Tony K. Interesting. Where?
@Dan_tm Whoa, now you went and brought it in that thread.
Good stuff.
I'd probably split the difference and go with a D-. There have certainly worse drafts -- including the 1974 NBA Draft wherein the Blazers cheaply took LaRue Martin over Bob McAdoo -- thus, even with hindsight as my guide., I can't completely condemn Portland for what happened in 2007.
@Dan_tm @Tony K. Dunno. I don't really think that's what Greg has done either. Aside from his admitted drinking problem, he has done nothing to harm his prospects as a Blazer deliberately.
@Norsktroll @Tony K. What grade do you get when, on your first day at Harvard, you walk into your first class, trip, and accidentally stab a vaunted professor in the throat with your pen, killing him, while at the same time, giving yourself moderate brain damage when your head hits the corner of the desk?
@Dan_tm @Tony K. Maybe Oden would get a "required to withdraw" grade. Withdraw grades may not be changed to letter grades and do not result in any tuition refund :-)
@Dan_tm That's a fair point, yeah.
F it is.
@Tony K. Even if you want to make it a curve, there certainly wasn't a bigger fuck up in the 2007 draft. Surely 1 team out of 30 gets an F if we're grading on a curve.
@Dan_tm Hmm, a part of it might be that I'm not one to give out an A+ or a F easily.
Now, I could go and say the 2007 NBA Draft was a F and the 1972 NBA Draft was a F- for Portland.
Then again, Portland did get Lloyd Neal out of the 1972 NBA Draft. Because of that, it did hit on one of its mid-round picks that year.
Hmm, maybe a straight-up F is in order.
@Tony K. Have there been 5 worse picks? If we're looking at each letter grade as 20 percentile, our 2007 draft is easily in the bottom fifth. It's one of the all time worst. That this franchise has done even worse doesn't make it better than an F.
Ugh, I made both a typo -- as I meant are instead of have -- as well as a historical error. LaRue Martin over Bob McAdoo happened in 1972 and not 1974. Bill Walton was drafted in 1974.
@Dan_tm http://www.blazersedge.com/2012/5/21/3034332/ziller-blazers-get-d-for-2007-nba-draft#comments
@Dan_tm Yeah, people were getting their panties all twisted in a bunch over nothing. I'm glad that Ziller put ZenGarden in his place, though, since that dude has a propensity to be a prick at times. I recall getting into a spat with him once, as well as found it amusing that the uptight dick has the word "Zen" in his online pseudonym.
@Tony K. That was funny.
And I don't know what people are complaining about. In retrospect, which was the point of his article, we fucked up as badly as we could have.
@Dan_tm His "instead, you write useless comments for free!" line was an epic zinger.

About 11:35 p.m., shots were reportedly fired on Reno Avenue between Mickey Mantle Drive and Joe Carter Avenue.

@skywaker9 (David) Those guys in OKC don't take their gun threats on Twitter, they take their guns to the streets
@Norsktroll Oklahoma was the only state that Obama failed to win a single county in 2008, they love their guns.
haralabob!
Haralabos Voulgaris @haralabob
Brent Barry is on crack - Kobe has thrown nearly everyone hes played with under the bus and has 50% of the cap. Who'd want to play with him?
Jake: http://i.imgur.com/mlMsE.gif
@skywaker9 (David) If the Giants had a decent pinch hitter left on the bench I might have used him there, even if you have to pull the closer, but as it was, no chance.
The Orlando Magic began their offseason shake-up Monday when they announced neither coach Stan Van Gundy or Otis Smith, the team's President of Basketball Operations, would return for the 2012/13 season. Despite the changes at the top of the basketball operations side of the organization, superstar center Dwight Howard "wants out of Orlando," according to Chris Bernucca of SheridanHoops.com, citing "a source close" to the three-time Defensive Player of the Year.
"Howard wants out of Orlando more than he ever did before in order to start a new chapter in his career," writes Bernucca. He lists the Dallas Mavericks, Brooklyn Nets,New York Knicks, Los Angeles Lakers, and Los Angeles Clippers as clubs "that would appeal to Howard."

Anyone else stoked for El-P's album dropping tomorrow? Anyone? Bueller?
Before we all go mocking Kobe going for 42 but no assists, maybe we should remember how stoked we were with Roy's 42 point, 1 assist performance against the Rockets.
@TiMB 1 is more than a million times more than 0.
@TiMB win vs loss
@Blaine Jungwirth You think we're questioning Roy if we lost that game??
@Blaine Jungwirth @christopher_m @clemsaucy The craziest quadruple-double.
http://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/198602180SAS.html
@Tony K. @christopher_m @clemsaucy this is my favorite one ever, i think http://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/199402170SAS.html
@Blaine Jungwirth @Tony K. the key to note with that Lawson video is the blob wearing #20 standing near halfcourt... the Blazers watched that video and decided to trade 2 rotation players for that blob.
@Blaine Jungwirth @christopher_m @clemsaucy One of the coolest stat lines was Duncan's near quadruple-double in the 2003 NBA Finals.
http://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/200306150SAS.html
@Tony K. @christopher_m @clemsaucy winner. my god. dan majerle!!
@Tony K. @christopher_m oh god that triple double hahahhaa
@christopher_m @Blaine Jungwirth @clemsaucy Thunder Dan with the most impressive single game TS%/eFG%.
http://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/200001110MIN.html
@christopher_m @clemsaucy @Tony K. wowwwwww. this is the only one that tops it, right? http://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/201105170DAL.html
@christopher_m @Tony K. (you know he's feeling it aside from the fact that he just hit 9 3s in a row haha)
@christopher_m @Tony K. whoaaa i've never seen that before. that last shot is absolutely ridiculous. you know he's feeling it cause he doesn't even follow through all the way. just chucks it up there
@Blaine Jungwirth @christopher_m The ultimate chuckworthy performance.
http://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/200504150GSW.html
@Blaine Jungwirth @clemsaucy @Tony K. holy shit check out Ty's TS! http://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/201104090DEN.html
@clemsaucy @Tony K. @christopher_m welcome to the rabbit hole of random nba box scores #morpheusvoice
@Blaine Jungwirth @Tony K. @christopher_m Kwame got 40 minutes lolol
@Blaine Jungwirth @Tony K. this was pretty great http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j7QXMq5RBHA
@christopher_m @Tony K. (that's like an average 3pt attempted in a pick up game to 11 for me)
@christopher_m @Tony K. donyell had to have just been hucking them up late trying to get the record, right? http://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/200503130TOR.html
@Blaine Jungwirth @Tony K. and mcgee tip jammed a missed FT to win the game.
@christopher_m @Tony K. he should have just shot 13 more threes
@christopher_m @Tony K. holy crap! 9/9 on threes, 4/13 on twos lololol
@christopher_m @Tony K. this is the official list: http://www.basketball-reference.com/leaders/game_score_game.html jordan's 69/18/6 against the cavs in 1990 is #1
@Blaine Jungwirth @Tony K. If Ben Gordon could have made a 2 pointer this would have ben an epic line. http://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/201203210DEN.html
@Blaine Jungwirth @Tony K. kobe's 82 pointer has to rate in there somewhere.
@Tony K. @christopher_m i forgot about this game http://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/200703160LAL.html
@Blaine Jungwirth @christopher_m http://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/200101020SAC.html
@christopher_m best random one*
@christopher_m this is the best i can find: http://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/199412130PHI.html
willie burton 53 points on 19 shots, .846TS%, 182 ORTG
remember when guys played hard on defense? Those were the days! @Blaine Jungwirth
kiki's line: 51/9/8 on 29 shots http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=neel/051213
@christopher_m @BrianGB @jakesnake99 @TiMB the 186-184 nuggets pistons game in 1983 used to be on youtube in its entirety. it's literally run down the floor, maybe one pass, shoot within 5 seconds. back and forth back and forth
@jakesnake99 @Blaine Jungwirth @BrianGB @Dan_tm @TiMB Oden just destroyed Joakim.
@Blaine Jungwirth @BrianGB @jakesnake99 @TiMB go back and check out some of the clipped boxscores in BBR from the 70s. hahaha, 165-148 and stuff.
@Blaine Jungwirth @christopher_m @Dan_tm @TiMB another super amazing game to be at. Man, for having never witnessed a buzzer beater (a dream of mine) ,i've been to some damn good games.
@christopher_m @BrianGB @jakesnake99 @TiMB some of the box scores from the 80s/90s are stupid. like some of david robinson's lines are absolutely ridiculous
@Blaine Jungwirth @christopher_m @BrianGB @Dan_tm @TiMB " is this the best combined game from roy/lma/oden? http://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/200911230POR.html"
knew which one it was going to be before I clicked. answer is yes.
@BrianGB @Blaine Jungwirth @jakesnake99 @TiMB lol the single game efficiency numbers for those massive games are great. I lol'd when someone tweeted about how great Kobe's 65 TS for the night was, I think Durant is around 60 TS for the whole season. Roy was above 70 TS in that PHX game. 167 ORTG. Are you kidding?
@christopher_m @BrianGB @Dan_tm @TiMB is this the best combined game from roy/lma/oden? http://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/200911230POR.html
@Blaine Jungwirth @jakesnake99 @christopher_m @TiMB he was so incredibly good :(
@BrianGB @Dan_tm @Blaine Jungwirth @TiMB http://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/201001300DAL.html
@BrianGB @Dan_tm @Blaine Jungwirth @TiMB Roy hit 5 3s and 19/21 on FTs, Miller in his 52 pointer hit 1 3 and only 7 FTs. That has to be the highest DoD 50 point game ever.
@jakesnake99 @christopher_m @TiMB he coulda had a quad double in this game haha http://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/200901240POR.html
@Dan_tm @Blaine Jungwirth @TiMB flagged as douchebag.
@BrianGB @Blaine Jungwirth @TiMB So did they ever catch you?
@Blaine Jungwirth @jakesnake99 @christopher_m @TiMB that was a super awesome game to be at.
@Blaine Jungwirth @TiMB (this is the game that I was supposed to be at but got screwed over and stuck on Mt. Hood 'cause some douche murdered his mother and they shut down the entire highway for a multi hour man hunt).
@jakesnake99 @christopher_m @TiMB i love this line too http://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/201001080POR.html 32 points on 11 shots, kobe 32 points on 37 shots
@BrianGB @Blaine Jungwirth @TiMB Miller's 52 pointer was actually considerably more impressive looking at it again.
@Blaine Jungwirth @TiMB that game that didn't actually happen but for some reason a lot of people had a shared consciousness in imagining it?
@jakesnake99 @christopher_m @TiMB http://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/200812180POR.html bonkers line.
@jakesnake99 @Blaine Jungwirth @TiMB yeah that was dynamite.
@christopher_m @Blaine Jungwirth @TiMB yeah didn't he also have like 5 dimes and 0 TOs in that game?
@TiMB @Blaine Jungwirth @jakesnake99 A lot of people didn't like Roy because of the whining.
@Blaine Jungwirth @TiMB Best Roy game was the 50 pointer against PHX.
@Blaine Jungwirth @jakesnake99 Nah, people mocking Kobe for this game aren't even Lakers fans. It's more about not being fans of Kobe. Did anyone really hate Roy?
@TiMB heck no. but dammit now you have me going back looking at old brandon roy games.... i think my favorite b roy game ever was the christmas day nuggets game
@jakesnake99 @TiMB exactly. same people who'd mock kobe for this game
@TiMB @Blaine Jungwirth some people on BE would have
@TiMB or Miller's 52 point 1 assist game or whatever it was.
@TiMB anyone mocking Kobe for this game is dumb
@jakesnake99 @TiMB Its only funny because its the most typical Kobe line ever.. :-)
@christopher_m Fair enough but it fits the mem!
@skywaker9 (David) not really, it's more of a typical Nick Young line.
@jakesnake99 @TiMB Kobe's earned some of it with his frankly ridiculous comments during the postseason.
@christopher_m @jakesnake99 @TiMB no wonder he is so tense all the time (rimshot!)
@jakesnake99 @TiMB or "give a fuck." That was a funny typo.
@jakesnake99 @TiMB yeah I don't think anyone is seriously mocking Kobe for this game. But let's keep mocking him for saying "I don't get a fuck" then laying a complete egg in the 4th quarter game 4.
@christopher_m @TiMB I'm all for mocking Kobe, just not for this game
